Open for criticism
Nicholas Kristof ("Liberals of little faith," Views, Feb. 5) equates deriding a candidate's religious faith with racism and sexism, but religious beliefs are a choice; race and sex obviously are not. Those who would prefer a politics based on facts, rather than on the hearsay of millennia past, have every right to deride the religious beliefs of a politician.

Meanwhile the Archbishop of the Church of England is getting shouted down in the politest terms possible. I disagree with him and agree with the principle of equality before the law. That requires the disestablishment of the Church of England.
