I’ll be talking at the Liverpool Irish Festival, Friday 24th October

As part of the Liverpool Irish Festival I’ll be at Liverpool School of Art & Design on Friday the 24th of October at 2pm, talking about illustration and sea monsters. Ireland’s part in the development of submarine warfare is also likely to get a mention.

Splish splash

. . . here’s something started last Saturday night.

First in pencil,

then sketching tones in acrylic paint,

then having second thoughts about the composition and sketching in Photoshop,

implementing the changes in physical paint,

and so on.

It’s got some way to go, but now I’m taking a break to draw the sea monster on the next spread.

Submarines and Sea Monsters

Two exciting drawings by Bo.

Above: A submarine attacking four sea monsters. The craft is covered with sensors and guns that fire explosive harpoons.

Below: Unmanned midget subs attacking two sea monsters. The mini subs have pincers and shoot incendiary electric shock harpoons.

Sea monsters by Bo’s father can be found in an earlier post here.

More submarines at The Sub Report, through which we found Iranian subs large and small at Iran Ballistic. Bo also enjoyed this BBC report on a Scottish built rescue sub made for export to China.
